Employment history on CV

Please remember to write down your job title, dates/employment duration and company name.

It is best to start with the most recent role first then work your way backwards with the job(s) you had beforehand. Think of the employer’s perspective, they want to see your recent skills when matching the role you are applying for. Most cases, your recent roles will reflect this.

Remember to add the months and years onto each job role. For e.g., January 2017 to July 2017. It is up to you to include the exact days. If it is for your role you are currently in, state it “to present/now”.

Within each job responsibilities you can categorise by bullet points (up to five bullet points with the most important responsibilities in your job role) or a short paragraph (description of what you did/do in the job role). Do not include a long essay of your job responsibilities unless it is a technical role. If you put everything down, what will you say in the interview?!  You do not want to repeat word for word on what you did in the CV. The interviewer invited you to know more about you and your skills.
